Calvin Church of Christ built in 1903 is the only church I have painted that exists in reality. Since no blueprints survive I worked from photographs. I embellished the background and foreground to create a visual compliment in the painting that is not part of the actual church surroundings. I attended church here with my mother as a boy and this became the basis of my faith. The lovely lady on the steps is my mother and the young boy grasping her hand is yours truly. I would give much to go back in time to hold her hand once again while climbing those steps.
